Trapped in the Loop: Why Triangle (2009) is a Masterpiece with One Major Flaw

✨ Great Hints: I loved the early hints that their ship was going to sink. It set a creepy mood, even though the movie trailer accidentally spoiled it.
✨ Greek Mythology: The references to Greek myths (like the story of Sisyphus) gave the movie more meaning. It made it feel like a tragic puzzle instead of just a basic scary movie.
✨ Smart Time Loop: The time loop was very well made. It was complex, but it was highly satisfying how the ending connects perfectly back to the very beginning.
✨ Camera Angles: The use of high and low camera angles worked well. It made the scenes feel trapped, scary, and confusing.

👉🏼 The Shocking Change in Jess: Finding out at the end that Jess is an abusive mother completely changed how I felt about her. It is hard to feel sorry for her when she goes from a victim to an abuser.
👉🏼 No Real Ending: Because it is a never-ending loop, there is no real fix or happy ending for the characters. It feels a bit tiring and sad by the end.

🧧 The Missing Second Key: When the "second" Jess drops her keys and alerts the crew, the "first" Jess never checks her own pockets. If she had, she would have found her own set of keys, meaning she would be holding two identical sets. The movie ignores this just to keep the plot moving. BUT
🧧 No Original Timeline: To make it even more confusing, there is no "first time" this happened. The second Jess only has those keys because she took them from a previous Jess. Because the loop has no beginning and no real original timeline, the keys are trapped in a circle, existing without an actual starting point.

ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʟʟ, Triangle is a highly clever and mind-bending thriller that deserves a 4/5 rating. It succeeds because of its smart time loop mechanics, creepy atmosphere, and deep references to Greek myths. While the sudden shift in Jess’s character makes it hard to root for her, and the key paradox leaves a bit of a logical plot hole, the movie is still a fantastic ride. If you love loops that connect perfectly back to the beginning, this dark and tragic puzzle is definitely worth watching.
